Weekly boarding:

Weekly boarding is at the heart of boarding at St Hugh’s.  It provides children with the opportunities to learn how to become independent, responsible and co-operative young adults. They learn how to organise themselves, take care of their belongings and be tolerant of others. This happens with the support and guidance of the houseparents, matrons and duty staff but ultimately we hope they do what is necessary independently. Weekly boarding provides pupils with vital preparation for their future schools and it is of great benefit to them to learn this independence whilst at St Hugh’s.

We encourage all pupils at the school to experience weekly boarding at some point and especially in their last two years if they are to move on to a senior boarding school.
