Art, Craft and DT in Pre-Prep

WHAT IS ART & CRAFT?
"Art is the ability to give form, to make tangible, to express, in a skilful manner, an observation, an idea, an experience, a memory, a mind’s image, through shape, colour, texture, line, pattern, tone and space using the media of paint, pencil, paper and almost all other materials."

Phew! Art is another language! And what a joyous language it is – so full of colour and shape and texture!

• And it's a wonderful link between reality and imagination.

At the Pre-Prep age the children's experience of the world around them is magical, uncorralled by 'grown-up' considerations and self-consciousness! To hold a moment in time, to create it, with pencil or paintbrush, camera or clay, on paper, in collage, as a model, is to capture something very special.

We aim to give them the tools, the techniques, the resources and the confidence to open this door. And it is truly a door to an amazing and wonderful land! Just look at what they can do!
