ICT in Pre-Prep

ICT 7

Much of our learning is active and not confined to sitting at a computer and we are fortunate to be able to enjoy a wonderful ICT suite for our weekly lessons. There is plenty of space to play with various control toys and participate in games and activities.

ICT 1

The children in Reception enjoy using the Keyboard Crazy boards to familiarise themselves with the keys on the computer keyboard. This gives them confidence to type their own names and their friends' names on to the computer more easily before having fun experimenting with changing the colour and size of the font.

The children in Year 1 have been pretending to be robots as part of their topic on 'programmable toys'. Mrs Lings starts every lesson with a fun game of musical robots and the children take it in turns to control the CD player.
ICT 2

The robots listened carefully to instructions given by their partner, in order to reach a particular destination!
ICT 3

Year 2 have been extending their understanding of programming and have been giving our roamer turtles 'Terbert' and 'Roamy' sequences of instructions to move around a grid. They love to make him disco dance by programming him to move backwards and turn in full circles!

ICT 4

In order to practise giving careful instructions, the children guided a partner around a shape on the floor.

We use an art program called Textease Paint which the children explore in more detail year on year.

ICT 5

The children often record their work by taking digital photographs.

ICT 6

To help the children with typing skills and remembering keyboard shortcuts, Mrs Lings has invented 'Kung Fu Typing'. Each computer command is assigned a Kung Fu move, which has the class jumping around the room in a sequence of actions!
