Learning Support
Children with special educational needs are welcome at St Hugh’s.
Staff are responsive to the particular strengths and difficulties of
all pupils.
The
Learning Support staff are responsible for planning and co-ordinating
provision for those pupils identified prior to entrance and those whose
needs are identified as they move through the school.
There are two qualified Learning Support teachers for children who have a specific difficulty. Teaching is normally on a one to one basis. Throughout the school classes are also helped by qualified assistants who encourage and support children in both literacy and numeracy.

The Learning Support department has a small tutorial room situated in the heart of Upper School. It houses a wide variety of computer aids, assessment tools and educational games. Our aim is to identify pupils with needs that affect their learning and this may range from handwriting difficulties to second language problems, ADD, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia and Asperger's.
