English is not confined to a slot in a timetable. Listening, speaking, reading, writing – words, underpin everything. We believe that we have found a great way to build a strong foundation of literacy skills and confidence in our children.


Naturally, much of the work building the basic skills, is done in Pre-Prep and it is amazing to see how quickly the children begin to use these skills in every aspect of school life.








Lots of opportunities for partner work encourage the children to share ideas with each other and develop their listening, talking and debating skills.










Lively texts and stories, backed up with imaginative teaching methods, gives the children confidence to create for themselves.







Regular and systematic groundwork with sounds and sentence building and memory tasks gives the children the skills they require to use language effectively.
