9th July 2010
Speech Day
Pupils should arrive at school at 10.30 am and Speech Day will begin at 11am in the marquee. Parking will be available on the school's sports pitches. After prize giving finishes, there will be drinks in the Rose Garden and classrooms will be open for parents to look around if they wish. Official proceedings will finish at 1.30pm but parents and children are very welcome to stay and are invited to bring picnics to enjoy in the school grounds.
Uniform for Speech Day
Parents will have noticed on the Middle and Upper School boys’ uniform list that a white, long sleeved shirt is required for formal school occasions. Speech Day is one such occasion when we expect all boys to wear white shirts, with their school ties and blazers. (White long sleeved shirts are not ‘regulation’ items and may be obtained, relatively cheaply, from a large number of stores, including supermarkets.)
Girls should wear summer dresses (or white shirts and grey or tartan skirts for girls in Years 7 and 8) and their blazers.
Year 6 & Year 8 Leavers may choose to wear their Leavers’ tie. If girls choose to wear a tie they must wear a white collared shirt suitable for wearing with a tie (not their white revered blouse or their summer dress) with their grey or tartan skirts.
Choir members should wear normal school uniform, as set out above. Music ties need not be worn.
Please ensure your children’s black school shoes are clean and polished.
Parking in School
Parents are reminded that they should not use the entrance next to Middle School to drop off and pick up children, nor drive through the Staff Car Park towards the Sports Hall. This is particularly dangerous at pick up time when there are often unsupervised children around, as they come out from clubs. For the safety of all pupils, we request that parents do not use this entrance to school at any time.

'on form' Sculpture 2010
The UK’s largest exhibition of stone sculpture has opened in the stunning grounds and house of Asthall Manor in the Cotswolds.
Our biennial exhibition of sculpture in stone runs from Sunday, 13th June to Sunday, 11th July (12 noon to 6pm, closed Mondays and Tuesdays) and is just 20 minutes from St Hugh's.
This acclaimed exhibition is set in the dreamy Oxfordshire gardens of Asthall Manor, once home to the Mitfords in the Windrush Valley. Building on the success of previous exhibitions, 'on form 10' brings together 26 of the most accomplished stone sculptors working in Britain today.
Our unique DO TOUCH policy has brought in hundreds of visitors old and young alike. The Saturday Independent has us in the Top Ten Family Events for June. Please look at our website for more information http://www.onformsculpture.co.uk or talk to Anna Greenacre, curator, and Mum to Kit Yr 7 & Eloise Yr 1, if you have any questions.
