Another busy but fun week in the Cottage this week. It began with a super My News session, where the children shared their weekend news in groups and then drew a lovely picture of the events. We then looked at the sound 'j' in phonics and pretended to be a jack-in-the-box!
During Numeracy sessions, the children have been sequencing coloured bears and working on number formation. Within Creative sessions, we have made lots of mess in Messy workshop with porridge oats and water and at Forest School, Mrs Farrant won a prize for finding not one but three caterpillars that we then looked at under our easi-scopes back in the classroom - clever lady! Amongst all this, there has also been time in the garden this week investigating our aqua play system, making channels for the water and the boats to travel along.
Have a lovely weekend. Jessica Blythe

News from Pre-Prep
Pre-Prep Sports Day will take place next Tuesday, 21st May, from 1:45pm on the top field: all parents and grandparents of the children are most welcome to join us. If it is raining on Tuesday we may have to postpone the event, therefore we have allocated Tuesday 4th June at 1:45pm as our alternative date. Please watch the website for updates - if we have to postpone Sports Day will do our best to announce this by 11am on Tuesday.
On 27th June Pre-Prep children will take part in their special Outdoor Adventure Day. We need a large number of plastic bottles for one of the activities and would be really grateful if you would start collecting. Bottles that contained fizzy drinks, water or milk would be perfect. Please wash them and bring them into school after half term: there will be a large collection sack in the hall.
There appear to be midges in the Forest School site at the moment: parents are kindly asked to consider applying insect repellent to their children on the morning of Forest School sessions to avoid possible insect bites.
Please would those who have Barnado's Boxes name them and bring them to school during the week after half term? We would be grateful for volunteers to help count the monies from 2:30 - 3:30pm on Friday, 7th June. The boxes will then be returned for the continued collection of small change. If you would like to have a collection box please ask Mrs Russell for more information.
