Admissions

Choosing a school for your children is one of the most important decisions you will make, but the many practical and personal considerations involved can also make it one of the hardest.

St Hugh’s is an academically non-selective Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School with pupil numbers of around 350 boys and girls. Many parents select St Hugh’s to educate their children from the earliest stage at ages 3 - 4 years, right the way through until the end of Year 8 when they will be 13 years old, though children can join the school at any point in between.

The reasons you may choose St Hugh’s are numerous. We have first class facilities in a truly beautiful setting. We promote excellence in all that we do and support every child in achieving their potential. The range of opportunities for children of diverse interests and abilities is extraordinary, and we take pride in our track record of helping children get into their senior schools of choice. Above all though, St Hugh’s is a family, founded on strong values. We produce confident, polite and kind young people who are ready to take on the challenges that the next phase of their lives will bring.

Senior School Admissions

The opening of the St Hugh’s Senior School was announced in June 2025, and we are excited to welcome our first cohort of students into Year 9 in September 2026. This significant development will allow pupils to continue their education with us beyond Year 8 and into the crucial senior school years.

An information evening for prospective parents considering entry for Year 7 or above in September 2026 will take place during the Autumn Term 2025. We warmly invite parents to register their interest with our Registrar, Mrs Allen.

Admissions to the Senior School will be based on a review of school reports, Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) scores, and a meeting with the Headmaster or Assistant Head Admissions. Please note, we will not be pretesting children as part of the admissions process. Applications for entry to the Senior School will open in September 2025, and our Admissions Policy will be updated over the Summer to reflect this new phase in our school's journey.

We encourage early contact, as the launch of the Senior School has generated significant interest in recent days. Our team is on hand to support families with information and guidance as they explore this exciting new opportunity.
