Rebecca Bell

Rebecca started riding whilst at St Hugh’s and discovered dressage when her pony, Ollie, refused to jump.  Since then she has gone from strength to strength.  In the Summer of 2012, at the age of 13, Rebecca competed for Great Britain for the first time.

2015 was another huge year for Rebecca when she both gained excellent grades in her IGCSEs and was a part of the first ever Gold medal winning British Pony Dressage team at that year’s European Championships.

In 2017, whilst still competing at the highest level Rebecca achieved high enough A’ Level grades to go to Oxford University.

She then continued to have many International successes leading to her earning a place on the GB Dressage Young Riders (U21) team in 2019. A huge achievement at such a young age.

This year, Rebecca has gained 2.1 in English from Oxford University this year following three years of extremely hard work and balancing her education and sport. She hopes to now go on to take a law conversion course, before pursuing a career in commercial law.

When Rebecca visited St Hugh’s, she gave our many riders and their parents a fabulously entertaining, inspiring and informative insight into what it takes to succeed in sport, with advice on coping with the highs and the lows, and on finding the right balance between training and studying
