Remembrance Day Service

St Hugh's marked Remembrance Day with a solemn and moving service, conducted by Canon Geoff Maughan, in which the whole school came together to think about those who gave their lives in war in order for us to enjoy freedom and peace. Chamber Choir performed beautifully, singing Pie Jesu and Ave Verum against a stunning backdrop of poppies painted by a group of Year 6 pupils.

As the names of former St Hugh's pupils who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars were read out, children representing each year group processed to lay a poppy or wreath at the cross. Trumpeter Milo played the Last Post to begin two minutes of silent remembrance, broken by the Reveille.  Canon Maughan’s address provided us with a thought provoking message of peace.
