Miss Sally Ewins – Assistant Head, Senior School
Miss Ewins brings extensive experience in academic leadership and pastoral care to her new role. Her career spans both prep and senior education, supported by specialist training in Child Counselling, Mental Health First Aid, ELSA, and Relationship Counselling. Before entering the teaching profession, Sally was a professional musician performing in leading London concert halls and major venues across the country, as well as working behind the scenes as an orchestra manager for film recording sessions and an established chamber orchestra. This rare combination of high-level artistic experience, pastoral expertise, and educational leadership places her in an outstanding position to support the Headmaster and Senior Leadership Team as St Hugh’s embarks on the next stage of its Senior School development.

Mr Ben Rogers – Head of Year 10 and Exams Officer
Mr Rogers has over twenty years of experience as a teacher, including roles as a PE teacher and Head of Maths at secondary level. In addition to teaching Maths and PE at GCSE level, he supported two Year 11 groups through their GCSEs during a seven-year tenure as Head of Year. Ben has also served as a staff Governor and maintains a long-standing association with St Hugh’s, both as a former pupil and as a member of staff.

Now, as I am afforded the opportunity to help guide pupils from Years 9-11, I feel both grateful and proud to carry that spirit forward. It is a privilege to support their progress, drawing on the values and confidence St Hugh’s gave me, and to help ensure that the same warmth, motivation, and belief in each pupil continues to flourish in the Senior School."
Mr Mark Hargreaves - Senior School Academic Tutor
Mr Hargreaves retired from teaching at St Hugh’s in 2025 having taught for thirty-seven years in both the State and Independent sectors. During his career he has undertaken the roles of Primary generalist teacher, Deputy Headteacher, Head of Department, Head of Year and Subject Specialist teacher (History, ICT, Science, Mathematics). He joined St Hugh’s in 2005 and during his twenty year tenure he was a form tutor throughout, Head of History and Head of Scholarship, serving as a member of the Academic Leadership Team and School Development Team.
“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to return to St Hugh’s and contribute to the development of the new Senior School. A return to a tutor role will allow me to share in this exciting new chapter in the story of St Hugh’s. I look forward to working closely with Miss Ewins and Mr Rogers and supporting our senior school pupils in their transition from “Prep” to “Senior” and guiding their personal and academic development as they all work towards fulfilling their full potential and continue their journey as independent learners.”
